Recreating the Melges Lip
Melges 24s and 32s have a lip at the hull to deck joint. It creates a nice aesthetic and creates a crisp line where one might split hull and deck paint colors. My initial thought was to wrap a batten up in packing tape and hot glue it in place, but I didn't have a batten, and the angle of the hull round changes as you go along. In the end, I built a dam out of a 2" strip on mono film which I pre-folded, and then back-filled with a pastry bag. As a side, I tried to tune up the fillet between the doghouse and deck. At this point, anything I can do to minimize sanding seems like a huge win.
