Marelon Monroe
Nope that I have your attention, let me say that seacocks are serious business. Anytime you are drilling a hole through to the cold deep ocean, you want to be following the rules, regs, and suggestions of the pros.
There is to be only one thru-hull on this project, which will serve as a drain for the sink and fridge. With it right below the kitchen island, I needed to get this sorted before getting too carried away. Here is the technique I used for installing one of the Marelon Flowtech versions that is totally flush to the outside hull when closed.
Step 1. Core out a 5" Diameter circle
Step2. Backfill with a G10 plug and goo, including milled fiber.
Step3. Glass in place and add a G10 donut, leaving a 1/4" of the valve protruding outside the hull.
Step 4. Time for the hole saw and some 5200. Follow with a couple layers of carbon over the Marelon flange.
