Backstay

I've always loved the backstay setups on Melges 24s and 32s, specifically because they are so simple, and having them run on the cockpit floor means it's very easy to have a number scale.  Unfortunately, with the fender locker directly under the tiller, the only sensible solution on this build was to run the backstay under deck, allowing the hatch lid to open unimpeded.

With a few G10 tubes, and bits, I entered the bridal through the port foot push.  There is a proper purchase from there, which splits and exits cleanly out the side of the foot pushes on the port and starboard side.  To carry the load of the bridal itself, the core was removed, and G10 pucks were glassed into the transom to support the harken eyelets.

Here are a couple G10 wedges that live on the backside of the foot pushes, to create a clean exit point up forward.
