Partners for Life
With the boat back in the garage, and a nice tool to reproduce the mast rake angle, I glued the partners into the boat for good. Before installing, after some trimming and adjusting, I used a fence and the router table to create a cove for a future mast gaiter. I imagine some kind of stretchy O-ring living in this groove to hold a cloth skirt to reduce water ingress in the absence of Spar-tite. Truthfully, because of the large rake angles on the 32, the collar is glued in place at a very steep angle. I don't really do a good job of illustrating that with the pics. Once I nailed the angles, I hot glued a few shims to the outside to maintain position during the initial glue up.
