Magical Soss HInges

Soss hinges are new to me.

That said, we have a trap door in the forepeak for porta-potty access.  I really wanted the hinges to be hidden, so here are some experiments to figure out a method to machine the recess to house the hinge bodies.  The plan is to glue in a small wood insert to hold the screws.
